Federación Internacional de Tenis se complace en anunciarles que la
11o Conferencia Regional ITF para Entrenadores
de Sudamérica 2006 se celebrará en el Hotel Prado, Barranquilla, Colombia de 12
– 18 noviembre de 2006. Esta Conferencia se organiza en cooperación con COSAT,
la Federación Colombiana de Tenis y Solidaridad Olímpica.

nacional ha de enviar el pago y el formulario de las inscripciones a COSAT.

5th ITF African Regional Coaches Conference 2006
Entry deadline is Monday 9 October 2006.
The ITF in conjunction with CAT, the Egyptian Tennis Federation and Olympic Solidarity is pleased to announce the details of the 5th ITF African Regional Coaches Conference 2006.
Dates: Monday 20 – Saturday 25 November 2006

Programme: Presentations will be made in either English or French (with translation as necessary). Confirmed speakers include Steven Martens (BEL), Frank Zlesak (CZE), Hichem Riani (CAT), Amine Ben Makhlouf (ITF), Karl Davies (ITF), Dermot Sweeney (ITF), Frank Couraud (ITF), Dave Miley (ITF), Amine Ben Makhlouf (ITF), Hichem Riani (CAT), Mark Bullock (ITF) and Prince Madema (ITF). A detailed programme showing speakers and topics will be available in September 2006.
The event is open to all coaches in Africa. There is no limit to the number of entries per national association. All entries must be submitted BY FAX to the Egyptian Tennis Federation on the official entry form and approved by the national association (with an official stamp).

ITF ONLINE STORE OPEN FOR BUSINESS
The International Tennis Federation this week announced the launch of a new online store designed to offer visitors easy access to the full range of publications, clothing, DVDs, accessories and gifts currently sold by the ITF.
The
ITF
Store (https://store.itftennis.com, and also available via the
homepage of www.itftennis.com) enables new customers to make purchases using
credit or debit cards. Information is available in three languages: English,
French and Spanish.
The
store offers an exclusive range of tennis publications designed for anyone with
an interest in tennis, from full-time coaches to the armchair tennis fan.
The ITF
Development Department offers a wide selection of coaching and development
publications for tennis coaches. These are designed for teachers and coaches
working with players at all levels, providing detailed information on improving
coaching skills. Also available is a DVD produced by the Federation Francaise de
Tennis in collaboration with the ITF, which details various programmes for
adults within a club environment.
The
ITF’s Technical Centre has made available a complete set of papers from its two
international congresses on Tennis Science & Technology, in 2000 and 2003,
which brought together a wide range of scientists, equipment manufacturers,
coaches and court constructors to discuss the latest technical issues in
tennis.
Fans
of the ITF’s major team competitions, Davis Cup and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas, are
able to purchase Davis Cup by BNP Paribas – the Year in Tennis, a fully
illustrated record of each Davis Cup year, and the Davis Cup and Fed Cup media
guides. Also on sale is The ITF Year, the comprehensive colour record of the
tennis world and ITF’s activities each year.
The
store also offers a range of clothing including fleeces, polo shirts, t-shirts
and caps, complete with official Davis Cup, Fed Cup and ITF logos. Gift ideas
include a Davis Cup bean bear, and sterling silver Davis Cup cufflinks.
Mat
Pemble, the ITF’s Manager of Information and Communications Technology, said:
“The ITF Store has allowed us to streamline sales of our publications and other
merchandise, and provides a better platform for some of our activities. Visitors
to the site are now able to access all our products much more
easily.”

ITF / OS REGIONAL LEVEL 3 COACHES COURSE FOR EASTERN EUROPE
The first Level 3 Coaches Course for European coaches took place in Valencia, Spain. The following nine coaches from the region were invited to take part in the Level 3 course based on their good performance at a Level 2 coaches’ course:

The 12-day course is took place at the Centre of Tennis Altur / Alvariño (Tenis Val) based at the Club Deportivo Saladar in Valencia, where Marat Safin, David Ferrer, Igor Andreev, Dinara Safina and Anabel Medina regularly train. At the start of the course, Academy Director Pancho Alvariño welcomed the participants saying,
“It is a great pleasure for us to host the highest level ITF Coaches Course behalf of the ITF and Olympic Solidarity and we are very happy to be able to share ideas with coaches from Eastern Europe. I hope all participants will enjoy their time here, during what I know is a very intensive and stimulating course.”
The Level 3 course is designed for coaches working with advanced juniors and professional players. During the 88 hours of course (42 on court and 46 hours in the lecture room), coaches cover topics such as:
• advanced tactics, technique and biomechanics
• applied psychology for advanced tennis
• body conditioning
• teaching methodology and training
Also attending the course are Lency Tenai from the Solomon Islands (Regional Development Officer for the Oceania Tennis Federation) and Finau Fa from Fiji who have just started a 6-week Olympic Solidarity Coaching Scholarship Programme in Valencia. Tenai commented “The first week of the course has been excellent. I have learnt a great deal from the ITF Tutors Miguel Crespo and Machar Reid, and also from other participants. I´d also like to thank Tenis Val owners, Pancho Alvariño and Jose Altur for giving us the opportunity to work with their players as well as watch others such as Dinara Safina practice.”

3RD ITF INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON TENNIS SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
10-12 September 2007, London
Call for Papers
The International Tennis Federation
is pleased to announce that its third International Congress on Tennis Science
& Technology will take place in London from 10-12 September 2007.
The 3rd ITF TST Congress aims to provide a unique international forum
for scientists, engineers, researchers, manufacturers, coaches and facility
designers from around the world who are involved in the sport of tennis.
TST provides the scope for
presentations across such diverse areas of sciences as sports science, physics,
materials, and facilities.
Papers are invited on four
themes:
Equipment: the impact of science and technology on tennis equipment
Court & Facilities: technology as a means of improving the tennis experience
The Game: initiatives to improve the game through new technology
Sports Science: the benefits of sports science to the tennis player
The deadline for submission of
papers is 28 February 2007.
