NEW ITF COACHING PUBLICATION - ITF TENNIS PSYCHOLOGY

Written by Miguel Crespo, Machar Reid and Ann Quinn, ITF Tennis Psychology
covers the most important issues related to the mental side of the game.

More than one hundred and fifty coaches from 17 nations attended the 13th
ITF Asian Coaches Conference, which ended on Friday October 20. The
Conference was held in co-operation with the Asian Tennis Federation and the
Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand at the new facility of 'The Tennis
Academy of Asia', in Bangkok.


The Conference featured keynote international speakers Paul Roetert (USTA)
and Craig Tiley and Craig Morris (Tennis Australia), whom made presentations
both on-court and in the lecture room. Roetert, the Managing Director of
USTA Player Development, spoke about the technical analysis of strokes and
the important topic of talent development, while Tiley and Morris focused on
the development of stroke fundamentals and tactical principles for
competitive players.


Coaches from the region including Thanakorn Srichiphan of Thailand, and
Benny Lin the Head Coach of the Hong Kong Tennis Association, and also gave
excellent presentations. Participants agreed that "the conference provided
local coaches a great opportunity to access the latest information related
to tennis coaching which will improve their daily work."

11o Conferencia Regional ITF-COSAT para Entrenadores de Sudamérica 2006

La Federación Internacional de Tenis se complace en anunciarles que la 11o
Conferencia Regional ITF para Entrenadores de Sudamérica 2006 se celebrará

RECENT COACHES COURSES



ITF/OS Level 1 Coaches Course - Banjul

Amine Ben Makhlouf, ITF Development Officer for West & Central Africa

The Gambia A Level 1 coaches' course was held in Banjul, The Gambia from
14th - 23rd October 2006. There were 20 participants on the course coming
from all over the country, including seven female candidates. During the 9
day course, the ITF Tutor Amine Ben Makhlouf (ITF Development Officer for
West & Central Africa) covered various topics such as: mini-tennis,
individual and group lessons, fitness and more.


The course was conducted in English and was held at the Independent Stadium.
All the candidates were happy with the new knowledge they gained during the
course and worked very hard.


Many thanks must go to the Gambian Tennis Association, the Gambian National
Olympic Committee and Olympic Solidarity for assisting the ITF in the
organization of this course, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone
involved.



Curso de Nivel 2 para entrenadores, Santiago - Chile.

Miguel Miranda, Oficial de Desarrollo ITF - COSAT para Sudamérica

Entre el 25 de Septiembre y el 06 de Octubre se realizó este Curso gracias a
los fondos de Solidaridad Olímpica, la gestión que hiciera el Comité
Olímpico de Chile y la Federación de ese país. Ha tenido carácter Regional,
asistiendo 2 entrenadores de Argentina, 2 de Bolivia, 2 de Perú, 3 de
Brasil, 1 de Venezuela, uno de Colombia y 13 de Chile. La sede fue el Club
Palestino y tuvo como Coordinadora a la Srta. Marcela Herrera. Los Tutores
fueron el Coach de los Equipos Internacionales Junior de ITF, Iván Molina y
el Director de Desarrollo de la Asociación Uruguaya de Tenis, Profesor
Richard González.


En la ceremonia de clausura el Presidente de la Federación de Tenis de
Chile, Sr. Mario Pakozdy destacó: "Estamos ante un reto frente a las
potencias de Europa del este, los países asiáticos y China. Continuaremos
con estos procesos y esperamos que esta capacitación sirva de aliciente para
que los entrenadores produzcan más jugadores y de mejor nivel".

El Sr. Jorge Nuñez en representación del Comité Olímpico de Chile a su vez
señaló:
"Este es un proceso de desarrollo, porque generalmente se quieren más
resultados, sin embargo con este tipo de programa se obtendrán los efectos
deseados".



Stage ITF / SO de Formation d´Entraîneurs Niveau 1 - Gabon

Du 25 Septembre au 03 Octobre, la capitale du Gabon, Libreville a abrité un
stage ITF de niveau 1. Vingt participants venants des quatre coins du pays
ont assisté à ce stage. Durant cette dizaine de jour, l'encadrant Monsieur
Amine BEN MAKHLOUF a abordé différents thèmes notamment : le Mini-tennis, La
pédagogie individuelle, la pédagogie collective, la préparation physique
etc.


Les courts ont eu lieu sur les courts du SAOTI Tennis Club qui dispose de 6
courts de tennis.


Tous nos remerciements vont à l'ITF, La Solidarité Olympique et la FEGATEN
pour l'organisation de ce stage qui a ravi tous les participants en leur
apportant de nouvelles connaissances dans la matière.


ITF / OS Level 1 Coaches Course - Gabon

A Level 1 coaches' course was held in Libreville, Gabon from 25th September
25 until 3rd October 2006. There were 20 participants coming from all over
the country. During the 9 day course, the tutor Amine BEN MAKHLOUF (ITF
Development Officer for West & Central Africa) covered various topics such
as: mini-tennis, individual and group lessons, fitness and more.

All the candidates were happy with the new knowledge they gained during the
course and worked very hard. The course was conducted in French and was held
at the SAOTI Tennis Club which has 6 hard courts.


Many thanks must go to the ITF, Olympic Solidarity and to the FEGATEN for
the organization of this course, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone
involved.

ITF PRO CIRCUIT 2007

Effective January 2007, the ITF Men's Circuit will comprise $10,000 and
$15,000 single week Futures tournaments only.  The four-week Satellite
Circuits will be discontinued at the end of 2006.




Following the elimination of the WTA Tour Tier V grade tournament, a new
$100,000 ITF Women's Circuit category has been approved.  Details of the
point allocation for this and all other ITF Pro Circuit tournament
categories can be found on the ITF  <http://www.itftennis.com/mens> Men's (
<http://www.itftennis.com/mens> www.itftennis.com/mens) and
<http://www.itftennis.com/womens> Women's (

A number of other key changes will be introduced in 2007, details of which
can be found below.  Coaches are requested to pass this information on to
their players.  A notice outlining some of these changes can be downloaded

IPIN Requirement

All players entering ITF Pro Circuit tournaments must have a valid IPIN in
2007.  Any player (including on-site alternates) who enters a tournament
