ITF Junior Tennis School The ITF recognises its responsibility towards
helping the on and off court development of junior players, both
those who will go on to professional tennis careers and those whose
lives will follow a different path after their time in juniors. The
ITF wishes to complement the work of National Associations, coaches
and parents by contributing to the education of these players. The
ITF Junior Tennis School has been created in order to educate young
players about all aspects of a tennis career, from how to look after

COACHES EDUCATION IN EUROPESolidarité Olympique- Illou Lonfo
J'ai fini tous mes examens théoriques et pratiques du niveau 3, choses qui ne m'a pas parue facile. Mais je crois que le plus important est l'information que j'ai reçue durant tout mon séjour. A ce titre j'aimerais remercier Miguel Crespo et Scott Over. Je garde de très bons souvenirs de tennis a Valence. Je me suis fait pas mal d'amis parmis les coachs et joueurs, ce fut une belle expérience. Travailler au contact de si grand coachs et des joueurs de talents, pouvoir cotoyer les meilleurs joueurs et joueuses de la planète fut quelque chose de fabuleux. Le tennis à Valence reste une référence et j'aimerais dire merci à Pancho, Vicente, Rafa, Jose, Alex et bien d'autres. |
COACHES COURSES IN ASIAITF / OS Regional Level 2 Coaches Course - Kuwait
After a big effort from the Kuwait Tennis Federation and Anis Bouchlaka (ITF Development Officer for West Asia), the Regional level II coaches course took place at the Salmiah Club from 2nd to the 14th May 2008. 19 coaches representing 8 countries from the region participated: Kuwait, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Yemen, Iran, Lebanon and Egypt. There was a healthy exchange of information and good friendship. |
CURSOS PARA ENTRENADORES EN SUDAMéRICACurso de Nivel 1 para Entrenadores en Chile
Del 19 al 27 de Mayo del 2008, se realiza en Santiago de Chile un Curso de Nivel 1 organizado por la Federación de Tenis de Chile, y con la certificación de COSAT. El Tutor ITF es el Profesor Richard González de Uruguay y participan 22 entrenadores de tenis de Santiago; Temuco, Puerto Montt, Cachagua, Santa Cruz, Coquimbo y La Serena. Es importante destacar la participación de 8 profesores de Educación Física. El Curso se desarrolla en las instalaciones de la Federación de Tenis de Chile, bajo la coordinación de la Sra. Alejandra Gamboa, a quien felicitamos por la excelente organización e iniciativa de poder realizar el curso en dichas instalaciones. En el Tenis Club Argentino, uno de los más destacados y prestigiosos del país, con la participación de 40 entrenadores, 20 de ellos de cada una de las Federaciones del interior del país y bajo la organización del Departamento de Capacitación de la Asociación Argentina de Tenis, se realizó este Curso en Argentina. Presidió la ceremonia inaugural el Dr. Armando Cervone, Vicepresidente de la Asociación Argentina de Tenis y Director de COSAT. Destacó la importancia de este tipo de iniciativas para el tenis naciona habiendo sido él quien fuera invitado por ITF a asistir al lanzamiento de esta iniciativa para el mundo en febrero del año 2007 en Londres. Mario Bravo, Cursos Cortos en Colombia.
El argentino Mario Bravo, seleccionador de los equipos juveniles de su país en competencias del circuito mundial, estará en las ciudades de Bogotá (19 de mayo - Centro de Alto Rendimiento), Medellín (20 de mayo - Liga de Tenis Sede Estadio), Armenia (21 de mayo - Club Campestre) y Cali (22 de mayo - Club Farallones), para liderar un Curso Internacional de Entrenadores de tenis basado en la formación de jóvenes promesas de este deporte. De acuerdo con la nueva perspectiva de cursos, conjuntamente la Federación Colombiana de Tenis y la Federación Internacional de Tenis, desarrollarán este Seminario Internacional de Tenis en Colombia para la consecución de 5 créditos en el área técnica, que serán tenidos en cuenta en el nuevo Escalafón Nacional de Entrenadores, de acuerdo al nuevo ordenamiento que se ha dado esta Federación Nacional. Con la participación de 40 profesores finalizó en el Carrasco Lawn Tennis el curso dictado por los profesores Richard González y Miguel Miranda, quienes llegaron a esta instancia mediante una gestión de la Asociación Uruguaya de Tenis con la ITF. En el mismo se trabajó en un proyecto claro, en donde se busca que los profesores motiven y estimulen a los tenistas para que jueguen al tenis y se diviertan bajo el concepto de "Servir, pelotear y contar" desde la primera clase. COACHING COURSES IN AFRICA
ITF Level II Coaches Course, Cairo, Egypt Amine Ben Makhlouf, ITF The Egyptian Tennis Federation hosted an ITF Level II Coaches Course at the Smash Tennis Academy in Cairo, Egypt from 5 - 15 May 2008. Conducted by Mostafa Naim (EGY), Director of the Coach Education Program and Amine Ben Makhlouf, ITF Development Officer for West & Central Africa, the course attracted 24 promising young coaches from all over the country. Play Tennis Course - Egypt Mark Tennant, ITF Tutor Egypt became the latest country, and only the second in Africa, to launch the Tennis...Play and Stay campaign, with the holding of a Play Tennis seminar and course. The seminar and course were delivered by ITF expert Mark Tennant from the UK, at the Palm Aroussy Tennis Academy in the outskirts of Cairo. For the full article click here |

LTA Sport Science and Medicine Conference 2008 22nd-23rd June 2008 (9.30 - 17.30). The event is divided into two different conferences. The Sport Science Conference will be on Saturday 22nd and will be of interest to a wide range of athlete support staff - strength and conditioning professionals, coaches, doctors and physiotherapists. On Sunday 23rd the Conference will focus on Sports Medicine and will be of interest to a wide range of doctors and physiotherapists involved in non-elite and elite sports medicine. Speakers include Donald Chu, Mark Kovacs, Todd Ellenbecker, Dr David Connell and many more. Post-doc position available at the University of Paris-Sud (Orsay - France) Starting October, November or December 2008, this project involves a systematic analysis of the relationship between serves and returns in tennis. This programme is in the area of sport science and perceptual-motor control. The postholder will have a PhD in a relevant discipline (sport science, behavioural neurosciences, motor control, perception and cognition). Experience with experimental studies of human movement including movement tracking systems and accelerometry - with programming (MatLab and SQL) and statistics - with tennis playing and tennis coaching will be appreciated. Salary: The salary will be in the range of 27,000-30,000 Euros per annum (gross salary).
